Resolving inter-group interfaces and touch points
A couple of rules:
- When you check off one of these things, put the answer and add your name by it in bold so we know who checked it off.
- If you discover other an inter-group interface that requires resolution, add it, putting your name next to it so we know who added it.
- If resolving one of them is proving tricky, add some notes or context, so your classmates and instructors have visibility into what's going on.
Accelerometers
-
Physical layout of accelerometer board (for attachment to wing). Will use Adafruit 2809 LIS3DH board. Phil -
Pinout of accelerometer board (for cabling). Will use Adafruit 2809 LIS3DH board. Phil -
Connectors on wing accelerometer boards (one end of cable). JST XH 6-pin 2.5mm male socket. Phil -
Wire gauge needed for accelerometer boards. Can use very tiny gauge (AWG 28). Phil -
Multiconductor cable chosen for accelerometer boards. 6-pin ribbon JST XH female plug cables (in BOM). Phil -
Connector on tailboard side of accelerometer cable. JST XH 6-pin 2.5mm pitch male socket connector (same as on accelerometer). This allows a female-to-female plug cable to be used to connect them. Antonio
Tailboard
-
Size and location of ports in top plate. The current CAD shows the correct locations and sizes. Antonio -
Size and location of mounting screws: does the top plate need to change? Mounting point holes in top plate CAD are correct. Antonio -
Connector and pinout to signaling board. Pinout indicated on the Tail_Signalling_PCB schematic will be used. Tail_Signalling PCB will have 2.54mm spacing pin headers installed on the same side of the board as the Feather M4 which will mate with sockets mounted on Tail Board Steve -
SPI chip select line. Feather M4 pin A2 Phil -
Which pins does firmware need for PWM? Feather M4 pins 5, 6, 9, 10. Phil -
Enable pin for dummy load for voltage conversion, for firmware. Pin A3. Antonio -
Physical profile (for LED scepter). 3D profile was evaluated using the Onshape cad models and the board CAD already on Onshape. Since the highest point of the tailboard is the feather, and in CAD we still have over an inch of clearance to the LED scepter, so there will be enough room for the LEDs. Antonio -
Location of sockets to mate with Tail_Signalling_PCB to be determined and confirmed. Tailboard gave Signalling group revised dimensions to allow more room for the components on their PCB. This issue will be finished off once we get help from Steve for aligning the male micro-usb on the signaling PCB to the female USB on the Feather - Antonio -
Connector for body accelerometer: pair of JST XH connectors that mate with accelerometer board, one 6-pin JST XH connector and one 2-pin JST XH. Tailboard has female plug, accelerometer has male sockets (like on wings). The 2-pin JST connects to the CLK and MISO. Antonio -
Connector for body LED scepter. How will the body LEDs plug into the tailboard for power and signal? We will be using a right angle version of the connector we have for the wing LEDs. TI part number is 1586892-1 Maisam -
Connector for motors. The motors each draw < 500mA (typical is more like 100mA). I'd suggest two JST XH 2-pin male sockets on the board. The motors can have JST XH plugs. Polarity of plug can easily set polarity of motors. S2B-XH-A will be used on the tailboard Maisam -
Connector for the body Accelerometer. Due to shortage of parts, correct connector is out of stock, an alternative way to connect the body accelerometer is yet to be agreed upon - Maisam
Headboard
-
Input reset signal: how is it produced? A Numato 128-pin USB-to-GPIO device Phil -
Numato to Head_Signalling_PCB interconnect to be determined. We plan to use Micro-Fit 3.0 Right-Angle Header on the headboard, and use Female-to-Pigtail Off-the-Shelf (OTS) Cable Assembly to connect the headboard to the Numato board. We found that the Numato board has push-in connectors with springs, so we can push the cables into the Numato connectors directly. Yuchen (Aaron) -
+48 VDC Power input connector(s) (part & pinout) on Head Board to be determined. -
+48 VDC power sharing & distribution on Head Board to be determined.
Wings
-
Wire gauge for LED power. AWG 18. Phil -
Multiconductor cable chosen for LED power. [https://www.mcmaster.com/8082K17/] Phil -
Cable orientation and configuration to reduce mechanical stress. Vertical, heat shrink on each connection point and a stress relief boot on the channel to reduce stress on LED strip. Phil
Body
-
Connectors for LED scepter: drill size for top plate holes. Drill No. 25, 0.149 inch Phil -
Connectors for body shell to top plate: drill size for top plate holes. All hole sizes are finalized. Phil
